How membership of Silverline Darkroom works

Membership gives you time in the darkroom, the club's chemistry and equipment, and the members-only posts on this blog. It suits anyone who shoots black-and-white film and wants to print it, from a first roll to a full exhibition.

What members get

  • Darkroom time at an enlarger, booked online. Our darkroom booking guide explains how.
  • Shared chemistry for film and paper, mixed fresh by our technician.
  • A safety induction on your first visit, so you can work alone after that.
  • Members-only posts on this blog, such as our notes on push processing.

How to join

  1. Come to an open evening. We show you round, and you can watch a print come up in the tray.
  2. Take the safety induction. It takes one visit, and you need it before you book.
  3. Sign up at the desk. We set up your booking account and add you to the members' list.

Reading members-only posts

Members-only posts show their title and a short summary to everyone, with a note on how to join. The full post is for members.

Course handouts work differently. Each course has its own password, which we give out on the first evening.
