About Silverline Darkroom

Silverline Darkroom is a shared darkroom for people who shoot film. Members book time at an enlarger, use the club's chemistry and equipment, and print their own photographs. You do not need a darkroom at home, or any experience.

Who runs it

Joan Whitlock founded the darkroom and runs the printing courses. Marta Carvalho looks after the chemistry, the enlargers and the safety induction every new member takes.

What this blog is for

Most guides here are free for everyone. They cover developing film at home, choosing a film, working safely with chemicals and caring for negatives. A few posts are for members only: our notes on booking and the house rules, and techniques we teach in person. Course handouts sit behind a password that course members get on the first evening.
