Keyword difficulty

Keyword difficulty is a score that SEO tools give a search phrase to estimate how hard it is to reach the first page for it, usually from the links pointing at the pages that rank now. Each tool works it out its own way, so scores from two tools cannot be compared. Treat it as a rough filter, then read the results page yourself. Our keyword research guide explains how.
